Former longtime Congressman Chris Shays of Bridgeport, besieged by admirers and well wishers, acknowledged he is not unhappy about being mentioned on the short list for the directorship of the Peace Corps which he served as a young man. He has no interest in an elected position, however. Congressman Chris Shays of Connecticut served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Fiji in the 1960's.

More than 300 honor Abe Lincoln at dinner

The Norwalk Catholic Club is not what it once was, but its annual Lincoln Day dinner still provides a vehicle for men to network and renew long friendships.
The 122th edition drew almost 350 this week to Continental Manor, the largest turnout in some years.

Former longtime Congressman Chris Shays of Bridgeport, besieged by admirers and well wishers, acknowledged he is not unhappy about being mentioned on the short list for the directorship of the Peace Corps which he served as a young man. He has no interest in an elected position, however. President Kenneth Passero welcomed the guests and introduced toastmaster John B. Devine, who in his third stint provided a pleasant mixture of homespun humor in his biographical anecdotes.
