Until 2009, year Osh had not an English Newspaper, but this month, a local students lead by Peace Corps Volunteer Erica Hemm initiated to the new media resource
Osh city students started to publish a first English language Newspaper. In the meeting held at the Center for American Studies where the newspaper is bearing, student reporters gave name to the newspaper as “The Oshington Post”, named after the famous one “The Washington Post”. The four page newspaper will publish once a month and the first issue of will be published on April 10.

Until 2009, year Osh had not an English Newspaper, but this month, a local students lead by Peace Corps Volunteer Erica Hemm initiated to the new media resource.
Osh city students started to publish a first English language Newspaper. In the meeting held at the Center for American Studies where the newspaper is bearing, student reporters gave name to the newspaper as “The Oshington Post”, named after the famous one “The Washington Post”. The four page newspaper will publish once a month and the first issue of will be published on April 10.
Erica Hemm, who is a founder of the newspaper, has mentioned that the newspaper will be done by university students and other local community members. Students and local community volunteer reporters will contribute their works. It will also promote friendship relations between Osh university students, as far as, the team gathered from Osh State
University, Osh Kyrgyz Uzbek University and, Osh Technological University.
Due to English content and student works the newspaper will be unique and interesting, - believe the founders. As newspaper members planning, the newspaper will mainly be focused on student problems and partly on local events.
In order to contribute the newspaper to the online world the internet version of The Oshington Post also will be launched by Osh city bloggers, which will be a good opportunity to find and offer resolutions to local community problems online. The initial cost of newspaper is 2 soms.
Youth journalists who will be working for the newspaper N/E will learn how to interview people, gather information and publish it.
