Robock has researched climate change for more than 30 years. Before graduate school, he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines, developing curricula and training teachers of meteorology. For 20 years, he was a professor of meteorology at the University of Maryland as well as the state climatologist for Maryland. He moved to Rutgers University in 1998, where he is currently.

Rutgers professor presents talks on climate change at SDSU

BROOKINGS, S.D. — Alan Robock, professor of climatology in Rutgers University's Department of Environmental Sciences and the associate director of its Center for Environmental Prediction, will present lectures on global warming and community involvement at South Dakota State University Monday, March 30.
Robock's first lecture, "Global Warming Is Real, and What You Can Do about It," will be given Monday at noon in the Union's Lewis and Clark Room (262). His second talk, "Smoke and Mirrors: Is Geoengineering a Solution to Global Warming?," will be presented that night at 6 p.m. in the Union's Campanile Room (169).
Both lectures are sponsored by the SDSU chapter of Sigma Xi, Scientific Research Society, as part of the society's nation-wide Sigma Xi Distinguished Lecturer series and as part of SDSU's efforts to promote 2009 as the Year of Science.
Robock's research involves analyzing meteorological observations and climate model simulations. He has published more than 250 articles on his research and has edited several meteorology academic journals.
He has served as an Ameriacn Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Congressional Science Fellow, and spent time at NOAA's Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory in Antarctica and at the Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique in Paris, France.
Robock was an active participant in the US-USSR Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection, visiting the Soviet Union as an Exchange Scientist six times from 1979 through 1985, and once again in 2004.
