Paraguay RPCV Bill Art runs for Roeland Park City Council
"I am running because I want to continue to serve Ward IV and the City as a whole. I consider it an honor and privilege to be elected to advocate and provide a voice on the council for the concerns and issues of the residents of Ward IV. Roeland Park has provided my wife and me the diversity and services that we look for in a city. I have a long history of service to my faith community in my younger years. My service as a Peace Corps Volunteer, in Paraguay, South America doing community development works in a small farming community. I can not imagine not giving back to the community. I consider it a duty."

Q. Why are you running?
A. I am running because I want to continue to serve Ward IV and the City as a whole. I consider it a duty.
Q. Name your top three priorities.
Priority one: to provide accountability and insure a prudent use of our tax dollars while prioritizing needs over wants.
Priority two: to complete the ongoing Storm Water Projects in a fiscally responsible manner and assure the maintenance and repair of our existing infrastructure.
Priority three: secure adequately financed developers for the redevelopment of city owned property.
Priority four: support sensible and financially affordable Green initiatives.
Q. Would you favor increasing taxes to make up for revenue shortfalls during this recession? If so, which taxes?
A. I am not in favor of increasing taxes.
Q. If not, how would you trim the budget?
A. Cut out those items that are not necessary for the basic operations of the city. Place projects on hold until the economy improves.
