Obituary for Malaysia RPCV John W. Timblin
John W. Timblin was born June 17, 1944, in New Castle, Penn., to Earl Vincent and Esther (Brenneman) Gotjen. He earned his Bachelor's degree at Columbia University after his four-year assignment to Malaysia in the Peace Corps. He earned his pilot's license in the 1980s. John worked 20 years in advertising, the Circle R Group, for Tandy Corporation/Radio Shack until his retirement. He was also an accomplished guitar maker, a member of LINT and their Web site manager. John was a master wood crafter, furniture builder and photographer. He used all of his talents throughout his life to benefit anyone he came into contact with.

Mr. John W. Timblin, age 64, of Gamaliel passed away Friday, March 27, 2009, at Baxter Regional Medical Center. There will be a memorial service that welcomes friends, family and anyone who knew and loved John at 4975 state Highway 101, on the pavilion of the resort he owned (101 Norfork Resort). The gathering will begin at noon today.

John W. Timblin was born June 17, 1944, in New Castle, Penn., to Earl Vincent and Esther (Brenneman) Gotjen. He earned his Bachelor's degree at Columbia University after his four-year assignment to Malaysia in the Peace Corps. He earned his pilot's license in the 1980s. John married Mellinda Abbott on June 16, 2003, in Eureka Springs. John and Mellinda owned and operated the 101 Norfork Resort for the last five years. He expressed his hope in Christ before his passing.
Mr. John W. Timblin is survived by his wife, Mellinda Timblin, of the home; four sons, Paul Erter, Jason Erter, Eric Erter and Beau Clem; five grandchildren, Madison, Ethan, Ian, Ava Rain and Ansel; his mother, Esther Gotjen; two sisters, Louise Mills and Melanie Timblin; three brothers, David, Terry and Robert Timblin; and his "Shih Tzu people," Laoma, Sneaky and Buster.
Arrangements are by Twin Lakes Cremation Society and Funeral Home.
