Diego succumbed to cancer the evening of April 3. His sister said that he was not conscious at the time of his passing. He was not in pain.

He is survived by his sister, Karen, and his father. His family is grateful for the letters and phone calls from Diego's friends around the world. The support has helped her and her father get through this tough time.
