Ambassador Chris Hill arrives in Baghdad
Christopher Hill formally presented his credentials Friday to Iraq's Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari. Hill made no public statements. He arrives in Baghdad three days after being confirmed by the Senate. The process was stalled for weeks by strong objects from Republican Senator Sam Brownback, who objected to Hill's handling of talks with North Korea during the Bush administration. Hill was then the chief negotiator with the Communist nation. Cameroon RPCV Christopher R. Hill is presently US Ambassador to Iraq and formerly served as assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs and U.S. ambassador to South Korea.

BAGHDAD (AP) — The new U.S. ambassador to Iraq has arrived in Baghdad to take up his post.
Hill's appointment comes at a time of rising insurgent violence in Iraq and with the first phase of the Pentagon's withdrawal timetable coming up. The U.S. military plans to pull its forces from Iraqi cities by the end of June.

Honduras RPCV Jon Carson, 33, presided over thousands of workers as national field director for the Obama campaign and said the biggest challenge -- and surprise -- was the volume of volunteer help, including more than 15,000 "super volunteers," who were a big part of what made Obama's campaign so successful. PCOL endorses Jon Carson as the man who can revitalize the Peace Corps, bring it into the internet age, and meet Obama's goal of doubling the size of the Peace Corps by 2011.
