PCOL made an inquiry to the Peace Corps Press Office conerning the situation in Mauritania and Allison Price, Peace Corps Communications Director, has sent us the following information concerning a physical test of Peace Corps Mauritania's annual Emergency Action Plan.

Peace Corps is conducting a routine regional safety and security assessment in Mauritania that was previously planned.
Each Peace Corps program has an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) specific to that country, developed in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy and Peace Corps Headquarters. The plans are tested frequently and information is updated on a constant basis. Volunteers are thoroughly trained regarding their roles and responsibilities concerning the EAP. The agency and all posts are prepared for all emergencies.
