DANVILLE - Thomas Hollowell, author of "Allah's Garden" (Tales Press, Urbana), will appear at the Danville Public Library on Tuesday, Aug. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the first floor Meeting Room.
The former Peace Corps volunteer, who currently resides in Morocco, will speak about the harrowing yet inspiring true story of a Moroccan doctor who was one of the longest-held POWs in world history, a victim of a forgotten war deep in the Sahara Desert.
The Village Mall Waldenbooks will have copies of the book available for purchase and autographing at the library program. Hollowell will also appear at the Village Mall Waldenbooks on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 1-3 p.m.
The publishers are including a promotion unheard-of in the book industry, a "Buy a Book, Win a Trip to Morocco" opportunity. Because "Allah's Garden" deals with events in Morocco, North Africa, the publisher and sponsor at Journey Beyond Travel LLC are giving away a private ten-night trip for two to Morocco, covering all in-country expenses.
Hollowell's writings and photography on travel, health and lifestyle have appeared in both national and international publications, namely NHA Magazine, Go World Travel, Africa Today, Hustler, Yale Q2, among others.
Thomas has also been a columnist for ComputorEdge Magazine and regular feature writer for Coffee House Digest. For more information, visit www.thomashollowell.com.
The library is located at 319 N. Vermilion St.
