PRIME Minister Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini will tomorrow be a key speaker during the swearing in ceremony of over 30 United States Peace Corps at the Mountain Inn.

Also expected to grace the event is Minister of Housing and Urban Development Pastor Lindiwe Dlamini, Peace Corps Country Director Eileen Cronin and Hhohho Regional Administrator Dr. Ben Mshamndane Nsibandze.

Thirty three volunteers will be sworn in.
Tanya Ward, Public Affairs Officer at the United States Embassy, says following the swearing in, the volunteers will begin their two-year service in different communities within the four regions of the country.

HHOHHO Regional Administrator Ben Nsibandze has paid tribute to the United States Peace Corps Volunteers presently visiting Swaziland.

This was during the swearing in ceremonyat the Mountain Inn yesterday.

"What I particularly admire about the American Peace Corps is their determination to learn our Swazi language and our culture, and for this reason, I admire your preparedness to be adopted members of the Swazi families using your given Swazi traditional names. I am also impressed with the whole volunteer programme, as I believe every person has a God-given responsibility to be their brothers'-keeper."

He said as they commenced their assignment, he wished them a fruitful stay in Swaziland."I would also like to congratulate NERCHA for the services rendered in our chiefdoms and communities through the ka-gogo centres, and the banakekeli, emahlombe ekukhalela programme, brought right at the doorstep of our chiefdoms."

Issues raised include the independence of the Peace Corps, political appointments at the agency, revitalizing the five-year rule, lowering the ET rate, empowering volunteers, removing financial barriers to service, increasing the agency's budget, reducing costs, and making the Peace Corps bureaucracy more efficient and responsive.
