The Chester United Methodist Church has voted overwhelming support to authorize Bill Novak to begin the process of becoming a United Methodist pastor. After an interview with the Staff-Parish Relations Committee about his call to ministry and faith beliefs, the Committee voted without reservation to recommend him to a Special Church Conference of the congregation for this authorizing vote. With his home church's consent, Bill now enters supervision of the Yellowstone Conference Board of Ordained Ministry. In the next 4 years, as he goes through seminary, the Board of Ordained Ministry will conduct oral and written interviews on his beliefs, doctrinal understanding, and understandings of ministry. In addition they will listen to his preaching and supervise his probation as a full-time pastor.
Bill is the son of Mike and Margaret Novak of Chester. He graduated from Chester High School in 1999. He then attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, graduating with a double major in Theater and Politics. In the fall of 2004, Bill joined the Peace Corps, where he worked as a Peace Corps Agriculture Sector volunteer in Fatima de La Colmena, Paraguay, through the fall of 2007.
