2009.08.15: Dodd home from hospital after surgery
Dodd home from hospital after surgery
"We caught this early," he said. "I feel fine, as I say, this is very common. If you gotta have cancer, I'm told by several doctors, this is the slowest growing, the best one, the best one to have, the most managable." Following surgery, Dodd says he will be recovering at his Connecticut home for about two weeks. Though he was diagnosed about eight weeks ago, Dodd has been busy working on President Obama's health care reform proposal and even used the news conference announcing his diagnosis to push that agenda. Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic in the 1960's.

Hartford (WTNH) - Senator Chris Dodd was released from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Saturday following surgery on Tuesday to treat early stage prostate cancer. Dodd's representative said the surgery was a success and Senator Dodd is doing well.
Dodd, 65, says a test at his annual physical exam revealed an abnormality. A biopsy was done and it revealed that he had cancer.
"We caught this early," he said. "I feel fine, as I say, this is very common. If you gotta have cancer, I'm told by several doctors, this is the slowest growing, the best one, the best one to have, the most managable."
Following surgery, Dodd says he will be recovering at his Connecticut home for about two weeks.
Though he was diagnosed about eight weeks ago, Dodd has been busy working on President Obama's health care reform proposal and even used the news conference announcing his diagnosis to push that agenda.
"As a member of Congress I have a very good healthcare plan," he said. "It's not about me. It's about people without healthcare and those who are underinsured."
As for whether or not he will be seeking re-election in 2010 he said, "I'll be a little leaner, a little meaner, but I'm running."
Earlier last month, Dodd's sister, Martha Dodd Buonanno, died following a short battle with lung cancer.
