The Disappearance received 3 stars from People Magazine and was hailed by Booklist as gripping, emotional and tender. It has a deep emotional core that will resonate with any reader. The novel is about the disappearance of 14 year old Daniel Sandler and the troubling insights his parents must confront about their marriage. Efrem is also the author of a previous novel, The Kermanshah Transfer. His short stories have appeared in Xavier Review, Pleiades, Quercus Review, Nimrod, Lynx Eye, Potomac Review and elsewhere, and have won a number of prizes. His recent essays have appeared in The Jerusalem Post, Midstream, Congress Monthly and The Journal.

HIGHLAND PARK - Efrem Sigel, novelist and author of short stories and essays, will be reading from his new novel, The Disappearance, at Highland Park Public Library 31 North Fifth Avenue, 7 p.m. Thursday, April 8.
