Graduate school at Michigan State University, Geography. Specializing in development and Africa. FLAS fellow. Conducted research in Sudan on drought recovery, 1987-1990. Doctoral research and dissertation was focused on villages in one of my Peace Corps areas in Mali. Professor of Geography and Planning at Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan, since 1992.
