Lesotho is a country of many contrasts, cosmos cover farm fields ...
while other fields have been eroded down to bare rock (lower right) and deep dongas (gullies in the middle of the picture) which are evidence of poor farming practices.
The majority of the country is high mountains, lush green in the rainy season. The little gravel road winding down the hill is the main road through the central mountains to Thaba-Tseka, my home for two of the three years I was a Peace Corps Volunteer.
My work involved planning, planting and harvesting village woodlots.
