From May 1997 thru July 1999 I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM). The FSM lies in the western Pacific Ocean, approximately 4000 miles southwest of Hawaii. The country comprises four states, including over 600 islands, and spans an area of over one million square miles of ocean! From the map above you can see the states, Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei, and Kosrae.
