CATHY KEENE
TRIPS AND TOURS/COMPUTERS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

I have been a program coordinator associated with the Community Education Department for the past ten years. My first position was as the Personal Development Program Coordinator. In this role I was responsible for developing classes in a wide variety of areas that included animal care, computers, cooking, finance, floral design, gardening/landscaping, home maintenance, interior design, parenting, personal and family growth and photography. I was also responsible for special events that included annual Women's Wellness Weekends, fishing seminars, horse shows as well as seminars designed specifically for older adults.

I obtained a bachelor's degree in Food Science from Framingham State College in Massachusetts. After receiving my undergraduate degree I served my country as a Peace Corps Volunteer on the island of Barbados. Upon returning to the States I worked in the food industry for several years before deciding to pursue a graduate degree. I came to work at Waubonsee shortly after receiving my master's degree in Community Health Education from Western Illinois University.

I am currently enjoying my commitment to coordinating the Trips & Tours program into what is now the fourth year as well as programming computer classes. My responsibilities include coordinating the highly successful annual Women's Wellness Weekend. I truly love my role as the Trips & Tours Program Coordinator. I have met some of the most wonderful people and have had the opportunity to visit some incredible places both here in the Chicagoland area and abroad.
