I am a Pennsylvania ESL teacher. I just received a new student from the Cape Verde Islands. She speaks Crioulu. Can you tell me what verbal and non-verbal behaviors I can expect for this student? She speaks no English. What kind of education do children receive on the islands? What is the normal family composition? What is the work norm--do women work outside the home, do men?I need to know the little details of everyday life. I really want to welcome her and make her feel a part of the class. Thank you so much!
