Cities you served in: Mabini, Davao

Arrival Year: 1962

Departure Year: 1964

Work Description:

Teacher of ESL and Science for Elementary School

Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps:

Married Dr. Andres Andal in June of 1963, We returned to the U.S. in 1964. In 1980 earned an MA in Education from Villanova University. Continued to teach elementary school and ESL. Went into business 1986. Became politically active and have worked for Democratic Candidates from the early 80's to today.

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:

My life was changed by the death of my housemate, Nancy Boyd [who had the dubious distinction of being the first female PCV to die while in service]. I married while in the Philippines in 1963 and brought my husband back to the U.S. Our lives have been involved with Filipinos in the U.S. and those back in the Philippines since that time. My life was certainly enriched by my service.

Anyone you are looking for or would like to hear from?:

In this 50th year anniversary of the Peace Corps I would hope to see members of Philippines VII while in Washington, DC in September.

Any message for returned volunteers?:

Anyone from Phil. VII planning a reunion in D.C. for our group?
