Returned Peace Corps Volunteer Bud McDonald can be contacted at mcdgiayahoodcom

Country of Service: Kenya

Training Group: Rural Water Development

Cities you served in: Bahati Chania, near Nakuru

Arrival Year: 1980

Departure Year: 1981

Work Description:

Worked in the construction of water mains.

Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps:

Back in the US, after a few detours like living in Germany for a year selling cars, went back to college for a second degree in engineering. Got into water and sanitation system design, then international business development, then private practice. Currently work on water supply and wastewater reclamation-reuse projects throughout Florida, the Caribbean, and Central America.

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:

Peace Corps has left a huge footprint on my life. Going in, the last thing on earth I thought I would be doing was getting into engineering and construction, and today, that is what I do. Work for alot of for profit organizations, would like to donate now some professional services and give back what Peace Corps gave me

Anyone you are looking for or would like to hear from?:

Would love to heard from all of the folks I trained with at Lugari, and a few others like Steve Mossholder

Any message for returned volunteers?:

Is it possible it really has been 30 years? The memories are still fresh, the feeling that Kenya was a watershed in life undiminished

Hi Bud - I served in Nakuru, but in 2006-7 - great words about Kenya being a watershed, I still feel the ebb and flow of the country everyday
