Work Description:
Public Health Volunteer--Work with rural clinic nurses based at a central hospital in Tshela. Also, trained elementary school teachers in health education my second year. In addition, during my final year, I did quite a bit with agronomomist and nutritition.
Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps:
Upon return to the US, I worked in Boston as a community based educator, then grad school at the Univ of Chicago--African Studies/Religion and Anthropology. I am "ABD." I have worked in higher ed administration for years but am training to become a therapist and aiming to work internationally and cross-culturally. I am married to a Congolese man for 18 years, but met him in Chicago. We have a 16 year old.
Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:
I value it more and more.
