WELCOME

TO TAMPA'S READING PLACE

My name is Richard Pressinger and for the 1998-99 school year I served as a Public School Reading Resource teacher in the Hillsborough County School District in Tampa, Florida. Here I taught 30-45 minute reading lessons daily to each of our four 1st grade classes. I also presented beginning reading lessons to our Kindergarten classes and conducted small group and individual tutoring sessions in the afternoon.

To tell you a little about myself, I am 44 years old, married to my wife Susan and have a 4 year old boy named Ryan. Prior to teaching at Seminole Elementary for the past 3 years, I served in the U.S. Peace Corps in the country of Jamaica as a Reading Teacher Trainer, helping with Reading programs in 4 elementary schools in 1985. I have also taught children with learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder and emotional (aggressive) disorders from 1st grade through High School age in both the public and private sector. I graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 1976 with a degree in Elementary Education and received my Masters Degree in Special Education in 1979 from the University of Florida.
