My time in Fiji was one of the most formative experiences of my life and
improved me as a person. It changed my life, my values and my
outlook.

I married Marica, from the Fiji Islands. I have been teaching at
Maranatha Christian Academy since returning in 1981. Marica is a
commercial pilot.

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:

I would not have traded my time in Fiji for anything. It was an invaluable
experience for me.

Worked for Action for two years in the Los Angeles office
(1972-74)recruiting for Peace Corps and VISTA volunteers.
Worked for Coopers & Lybrand (international accounting firm)for 10 years
in Los Angeles, Honolulu and Seattle. I was Human Resources Manager in
all three locations.
Have worked for the past 20 years for R.W. Beck, Inc., an international
engineering/consulting firm based in Seattle, WA. I was Human Resources
Mgr. for 8 years and Director of Business services for the past 12 years.

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:

I am still promoting the Peace Corps to those college graduates and older
Americans I meet. Sponsored a Peace Corps Day in my office last year to
celebrate the 40th anniversary. There were 4 RPCV's who displayed items
from the countries they served in in our office lobby.

affirs program; Executive Director of Honua, Hawaii, an environmental
education center in Hilo, HI; ordained a ministr of the United Church of
Christ (UCC), served 10 years as an Intentional Interim Minister in the
Northern California Nevada Conference, served 6 years as an Associte
Conference Minister in the Missouri Mid-South conference, and just
began as Senior Minister of the Manoa Valley church in Honolulu.
My wife, Sue and I were married in 1965 (t years before entering the
Peace Corps), our son, Ted, born in Fiji in '70 is now a medical resident in
OBGYN with Kaiser Permanente in Oaakland, is married to Kjerstin, and
has a daughter, Annika, born in Oct. 2000. Daughter, Meg, born in HI in
1970 is just completing her PhD at the Univ. of KY, Lexington.

We are grateful for the experience. We follow world events with much
greater interest than the average American. We only wish we could
become reaquainted with the other volunteers with whom we served.
