The cooperative my ex-husband, Mario, and I helped found, Cooperativa La
Esperanza de los Campesinos, is still being run by the members we trained.
They now process their own brand of coffee which is sold in Europe.

The other (28) is working for the State Dept. and is currently studying
Mandarin in Taipei.
I retired from teaching in Long Island, 3 years ago and moved to the
mountains of Arizona. We have a beutiful home, two horses, and a

Some of the best experiences of my life. The people of Panama were
wonderful. Went back for a trip December 2000 and had a wonderful time.

David Goldstein was a Peace Corps volunteer headed for Ecuador. I met him
in training camp and never saw him again. I would love to hear from him.My

Married to Panamanian, lived in rural area for 27 years, left Panama in 1991.
Recently retired from doing accounting for a third party administrator in
Syracuse, NY. Visit 5 children still living in Panama at least once a year for 2
months.
Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:
Profoundly changed my value system and the course of my life. It was the
first time that I had felt empowered to make a profound impact on a whole
community. Our group formed strong bonds which carried us through the
more trying episodes of training and of subsequent service.

Patti Griffin is a Coffee Roaster in Baltimore for the family business after
teaching public kindergarten. Pete Griffin worked in Medicare and

Many of our PCV experiences seemed unique at the time, but we have
been suprised that many of the situations parallel our community and
work experiences at home.
