Pat Baldi Waak, RPCV/Brazil, Announces Candidacy for Colorado's Fourth Congressional District

Joined by family members and supporters at a series of campaign announcements in Fort Collins and Greeley, Weld County resident and former Peace Corps Volunteer, Pat Baldi Waak announced her intention to seek the Democratic nomination for Colorado's Fourth Congressional District. Citing health care, economic security, and agriculture as the major issues of the campaign, Waak focused on her record as a nurse, administrator, and public servant and her commitment to be a new voice for Colorado.

"A government for the people must be a government of the people. I have spent my entire adult life working to improve the lives of others. I have devoted my life to public service. I will bring my experiences to Washington D.C., and speak with a new voice for our district."

Waak will continue with announcement events and issue discussions throughout the coming weeks around the district.

"My plan over the next nine months is to reach out to voters across this district. I want to listen to their concerns and their perspectives on issues," Waak said.

Pat Baldi Waak has spent her entire working life of more than 30 years committed to the health and well-being of individuals, communities and the natural environment. Her concern for economic justice, quality health care and environmental integrity has led her to seek elective office, bringing her successful management experience in government, educational institutions and not-for-profit organizations to bear on these national priorities. A fuller biographical sketch was handed out at the press events.

Pat Baldi Waak was the Deputy Campaign Manager for Sargent Shriver's presidential bid in 1976. She went on to serve in the U.S. Agency for International Development. Most recently she has been a senior advisor to Audubon, focusing on the relationship between people and the environment worldwide. Pat can be reached at pawaak@juno.com.

"We need a Representative who will listen to the concerns of all. A Representative that will bring people together across political, ideological, and geographic boundaries. We need a Representative who will bring the experiences of her life, and apply them to government service. We need a new voice. I will be honored to represent the Fourth Congressional District of Colorado."
