February 5: Annual Holiday Potluck at Fitton's House (43 Glen Alpine Road, Alpine MD 21131-2406) starting at 6 pm. The Contact Person for this event is Hugh Pickens (410) 669-2383, Remarks: This is a potluck. Everybody bring a dish to share. Members are encouraged to bring Peace Corps slides to show the group. Our speaker will be Amy Larocque-Rumano who will talk to us about Tsunami relief efforts.

Our speaker with be Ron Krannich who served in the Peace Corps in Thailand and has written more than 70 books on work and travel overseas. Ron will be speaking to us about the international job market and how to find job overseas. He will also be talking to us about his recent trips to South America and Southeast Asia.

May 7, 8, 9: Peace Corps Family Camping Weekend at Camp Wright in Stevensville, MD. We need someone to coordinate this event. We have a camping location reserved but need volunteers to put this event together. Call Christa Bucks-Camacho at (410) 540-9558 for information to get involved.

Our speaker will be Phil Weiss, author of the recent bestseller, "American Taboo" about the murder of Peace Corps Volunteer Deborah Gardner in Tonga in 1976 and why her killer has never been brought to justice. The book was recently featured on "CBS Investigates."

Kay Ibrahim-Muldoon who lived in East Africa for many years will be helping us navigate the menu and making recommendations for what to order. September 17: Annual Picnic at Tom Jacobs' Farm (14610 Monticello Drive, Cooksville, MD 21723-9600) starting at 1 pm. Our speaker will be Peace Corps Deputy Director Jody Olsen who will be talking to us about the prospects for expanding the Peace Corps. Ms. Olsen served as a volunteer in Tunisia and was Peace Corps’ Chief of Staff under Director Paul Coverdell.

November 16: Third Annual Peace Corps History Series starting at 5 pm in the Gallery of UMBC's Albin O Kuhn Library. Previous speakers have included former Peace Corps Director Jack Vaughn and Scott Stossell, author of "Sarge" the biography of Sargent Shriver.
