My name is Fred Stupen a RPCV (Ukraine 98-00)working with an asset and capacity building organization for low-income people in Chicago. Goodcity NFP has recently been awarded funding by the Office of Refugee Resettlement to implement an Individual Development Account (IDA) program for refugees in Chicago. IDA's are matched savings programs that include a financial literacy component and matched funds are used for purcahsing an asset such as a home, start a business, school tuition, computer or vehicle.

We are looking for volunteers to assist us in mentoring refugees or assisting in presenting the financial literacy classes to them. We are working with such groups as the Ethiopians, Sudanese, Bosnians and are collaborating with such organizations as World Relief Chicago, The Mayors Office, Uptown Hull House and the Institute fro Social and Economic Development ISED.
