Hello, My name is Connie Coutu, and I am the Regional Director for AYUSA (Academic Year in the USA). We have foreign exchange students that have won a scholarship to come spend a high school year here in the USA. The students come from Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan. We look for people that have an interest in culture and world affairs to host these students, ones that can open their hearts and homes. The student has their own personal spending money and full medical insurance. We provide ongoing support to students, host families and schools throughout the year. The goals of the scholarship are to expose the students to democratic principles, free market economy, civil society, and community service and ways they can implement any of the above in their home countries upon return.
