Annette Raggette of Austin has been appointed by Gov. Rick Perry to the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners, the governor's office announced.
The board regulates licensed health care professionals in Texas and educates consumers about their health care rights.
Raggette is director of Austin-based E-Team Communications Inc., which specializes in employee relations. She was a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Jamaica and Costa Rica and a volunteer with Project Literacy and the Juvenile Court Volunteers.
Her term on the commission will expire in April 2009.
The governor's office also announced the appointment of obstetrician/gynecologist Dr. Christine Canterbury of Corpus Christi to the board. Her term expires in April 2007.
