Dear Lovers of Our Mountains
A few years ago the coal companies passed out bumper stickers to their employees that sent the message of a love for coal. The sticker read I[Red Heart]Coal.
With mountain top removal the coal companies are destroying our mountains. I felt that people loved mountains more than coal so I produced a bumper sticker that expresses a love of mountains with I[Red Heart]Mountains. I paid for the first 1000. They went so fast I decided I would need help to meet the demand. People have responded with support for every subsequent printing of the bumper stickers.
The last batch of 5000 went quickly. Mountain Justice, an environmental group emanating from Virginia Tech, paid for and distributed a thousand. The Purple Fiddle in Thomas, West Virginia paid for and is distributing 500 to their customers, the Mountain People's Coop in Morgantown, WV, paid for and distributed a bunch as did Coal River Mountain Watch, the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition and others. Individual donations ranged from $1 to $50 and organizational donations from $25 to $200.
This next batch of 5,000 will cost $.20 each because we are printing on the back an explanation of what the bumper sticker signifies.
If you or your organization would like to help pay for a portion of the stickers please send a check made out to WVHC and write bumper stickers in the memo. With your check indicate how many bumper stickers you want sent to you or your organization.
If you just want to contribute but not receive any stickers(or just one or two for yourself) we will make what you paid for available at no cost in shops, at events such as fairs, festivals and forums and to anyone who makes a request through our notices in the West Virginia Highlands Voice. People receiving free bumper stickers will be given the option of making a donation toward the next printing.
Remember--no donation is too small. One dollar pays for five, Five dollars pays for 25 and so on.
Many thanks to all of you who helped out in the past.

Please make your check payable to WVHC with bumper stickers in the memo and send to:
