You've heard all the stories about expensive, self-cleaning toilets coming to Downtown San Antonio. Well, those plans may be going down the drain.
“They're pretty marvelous toilets, I will say that,” Mayor Phil Hardberger told WOAI.
He’s talking about the plan for $250,000, self-cleaning toilets. They're in the current budget to help serve downtown tourists and the homeless.
But Hardberger sees something different, possibly information centers with public toilets, featuring multiple stalls.
“It's more traditional, and a lot cheaper. And I think, ultimately, that will be the way to go -- at least until the technology gets the prices down on those toilets,” said Hardberger.
The Mayor says be several meetings and hearings will be held to work on the budget in the coming weeks. We'll let you know what happens.
