I am involved with IntoEdVentures, an independent non-profit student exchange program certified by CSIET (Council on Standards for International Educational Travel). We bring international high school students from other countries to the United States to participate in an academic and cultural exchange. This fall, we have students coming to the US from over 40 countries. We are currently recruiting volunteer host families who have a genuine desire and interest in hosting an international student. Many different types of families are eligible for hosting. Host families may have small children, teenagers, children who have already left home, or no children at all and may live anywhere in the US. The students attend local high schools for the ten month academic year while living with their host family. By opening ones home to a young student from another country, families have the opportunity to share themselves and their love while gaining broader views of the world and friendships that last a lifetime. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in finding out more about hosting a student, or if there is any way in which you can help us reach out to the community, through a bulletin or newsletter. I find most of my families through networking and referrals. Please spread the word. I myself grew up overseas and have lived with host families in Belgium and France. I really am committed to finding good homes for these students.
