Mayor Phil Hardberger Gives Annual State of the City Address
In his annual State of the City address, he pointed out progress in creating more parks and big plans in the works to extend the river walk and the airport. He called education a priority for this year, but economically, he said San Antonio's one of the top cities in the nation and still on the rise. "The national ratings go up and up. We are now eleventh in the nation as a place to get and keep a job, eleventh in the places you can live in the whole United States," said Mayor Hardberger. San Antonio Mayor Phil Hardberger served as a Peace Corps Staff member in the 1960's.

Mayor Phil Hardberger gave a bit of a report card for the city today. He said we're doing very well in most areas, but there are some big challenges ahead.
In his annual State of the City address, he pointed out progress in creating more parks and big plans in the works to extend the river walk and the airport.
He called education a priority for this year, but economically, he said San Antonio's one of the top cities in the nation and still on the rise.
"The national ratings go up and up. We are now eleventh in the nation as a place to get and keep a job, eleventh in the places you can live in the whole United States," said Mayor Hardberger.
As for 2008, the mayor wants to extend term limits for council members, from two, 2-year terms, to four, 2-year terms.
