Part-time Employment Opportunity
Community Representative

Dear Peace Corps Friends,

AYUSA International is a non-profit high school foreign exchange student organization. We welcome teenagers from over 60 countries worldwide and provide host family placement and ongoing supervision for 5 and 10 month academic programs. We are a community of citizens who believe the cross-cultural exchange of ideas, values and friendship leads to a greater acceptance and, ultimately, a more peaceful coexistence.

As Peace Corps alumnae, we know you share this vision and we invite you to apply for the position of Community Representative. The ideal candidate should enjoy teenagers, have a strong desire to communicate cross-culturally and feel comfortable networking in the community. Basic responsibilities include recruiting and interviewing host families, providing ongoing support to families and students and maintaining professional relationships with local high schools.

This position pays a stipend per student as well as travel incentives, leadership enhancement opportunities, and most of all, a chance to promote a more peaceful world for our youth to inherit.

Full training and ongoing support is provided through one of 2 branch offices in the state of New York. Please apply to staff@ayusa.org or phone toll-free 1-888-552-9872.

I am interested in joining the PC to do HIV/AIDS work in francophone Africa and have a number of questions. I would be grateful to be able to talk with or email any RPCVs who did similar work in that region. Merci!

my name is elisabetta, i am 35 years old and I live in Italy but I was born in chisimaio, somalia on 29th september 1969. I am looking for my father called Ron or Ronald who doesn't know me or even of my existence. My mother Luul who was 18 at the time met Ron in chisimaio in 1968 and they had a relationship. my mother got pregnant and when she was about 4 or 5 months gone Ron was transfered one night and she never saw him again. My mother was from the Barka village near Sanguni and she had a friend called Cadey who cooked for the peace corps when their cook umari went to the sea. THe peace corps lived in the house of Xagi Ise.
Ron was from New York, probably of irish or scottish origin because he showed my mother photos of his family wearing kilts. he was a teacher in the peace corps and he had a disabled friend called Mark and another friend called Bill. I would so much like to meet my father, it is really important for me so if anyone can help me or knows who ron is or where i can find him, please help me by sending information in an e-mail to eleasa@tin.it. hopefully elisabetta
