Yes it might be a stretch, but the pope's strong language regarding full civil rights for gay and lesbian opens the door and provides license for other actions that degrade the individual freedoms that we cherish in the US. Perhaps the love that jesus had for ALL is now being censored by someone claiming to be his representative.
