Hi,
I am a RPCV and an African-American who served in the PC in Cuzco, Peru in 1962-64. My months in the capital city were extremely difficult because the Quechua Indians had never seen a black person, and their reactions were laughter and screams. I have since learned of other countries where the reaction to non-white PCVs was similiar. Some minority PCVs quit the Corps because of this. We have stories to tell and I am collecting them for an anthology. Please send me your story and your contact information. Thank you!
