RPCVs and past PC Staff joined together in 1998 to form national corporation for all interested in the Dominican Republic and Peace Corps. We are a IRS recognized not-for-profit 501[c][3] organization which makes all contributions tax deductible.

Come visit our web page http://www.drfriends.org where you can find out about our programs, organization, and to join online.

Peace Corps volunteers save 80% of international long distance phone call expense by using
international callback service to call family and friend in USA but enjoying US telecom
technology and connection. Visit BestCallback's website at http://bestcallback.net
and find the rate to call US from Dominican Republic is only 19¢. When you go to BestCallback, look
for the "Peace Corps Service" section to see some sample rates and then dig for the program
features and benefits.

HI! I am leaving for the Dominican Republic this September and I have questions on what kinds of clothes to pack?

I know that they are conservative in dress, so what did you wear while you were there?

P.S.
I am female.

We need everyones help! please read below, and do what you can. Forwarding a copy on the below letter to your Senator or House Rep would be greatly appreciated.

This letter is being written in support of Alicia Rivera and Antonio Nazario Munoz Almonte. Alicia who is a U.S. citizen met Antonia while she was serving in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic. After her Peace Corps service ended in September of 2000 She returned to the U.S., but her love for Antonio drew her back the Dominican Republic. The two were married in May 2001 in the Dominican Republic.

Since then they have built a home and life in the Dominican Republic. However the two have been unsuccessful in their quest to be a united family. After they married Alicia applied for a resident alien visa for Antonio, which would allow the two to visit from their home in Dominican Republic to the United States were they have family members in six states. Records show that the application was received by the department of Immigration on March 5, 2003, case #LINO312552841. As of this date they have not been successful in their attempts to obtain such a visa. This delay has impacted Alicia’s family state side in many ways. It has prevented Alicia and her husband from visiting her seven children and 6 grandchildren and extended family. It has forced Alicia to travel alone to such important family events such as her daughter’s wedding.

Such a large part of the strength of the U.S is its emphasis it places on the family. It is your help uniting this family that is being requested. Any inquiry or intervention with the Department of immigration on the behalf of Alicia and Antonio would be greatly appreciated. Their family is willing and able to provide any supporting documentation or information that may be needed. Alicia and Antonio, as well as their entire family long for the day of unification that will only be possible by Antonio being granted a resident alien visa.

Thank you for your help.
