9 chosen for teaching chairs

A jazz musician, a midwife, and a professor of leadership are among the nine Miami Dade College faculty members being honored with Endowed Teaching Chairs.

Miami Dade College has named nine professors as recipients of the 2004 Endowed Teaching Chairs.

''MDC is proud to recognize those who devote themselves to preparing MDC students to excel in the career path of their choice,'' college President Eduardo Padrón said.

The recipients, who will be honored Oct. 20 at a banquet, will hold chairs for three years and receive an annual award of $7,500. More than 200 Endowed Chairs have been awarded since the program began in 1992.
