MADISON, Wis. -- Gov. Jim Doyle said Wisconsin's discount prescription drug program for senior citizens will save people hundreds of dollars more than the new Medicare drug benefits.

Department of Health and Family Services that shows SeniorCare co-payments and enrollment fees will be far cheaper than the new federal Medicare benefits. They go into effect in 2006. ( See Full Report )

The Democratic governor says the Medicare benefits will only cover costs up to $2,200 and over $5,100.

"The Medicare plan has higher enrollment costs, higher co-pay amounts, and there's still a huge so called 'donut hole' gap in coverage," Doyle said.
