Occupational Therapy Positions


Be part of Easter Seals Arizona and our progressive community-based rehabilitation team in developing our efforts to reach underserved citizens throughout the state.

JOB SUMMARY:
A Service Generalist will perform the duties of an Occupational Therapist, Promoter and Trainer as part of a multi-disciplinary team offering assistive technology evaluation and training to individuals with disabilities. We are recruiting two individuals, one to serve Phoenix and Western Arizona, and another to serve the Tucson and the Southeastern region.

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Perform evaluations for Veterans, the Disabled and other Citizens the areas of independent living, home modification, mobility, worksite, and communication and computer access.
• Supervise and train paraprofessional and graduate school interns, AgrAbility rural animateurs in rural and traditionally underserved areas and populations.
• Participate in capacity building for the community and Easter Seals staff.
• Work with an assistive technology team to perform assessments for assistive technology under a person centered, task analysis model.
• High Skills in PowerPoint, JAWS, Voice Recognition – XP and Dragon, versed in variety of AAC devices and able to train others in use of these. We serve a continuum of needs, and the ability to pick up skills as needed is crucial.
• Follow all accepted codes of ethics and behavior related to interaction with clients, Easter Seals Arizona staff and other professionals
• Be accountable for achieving, evaluating and measuring department goals, activities and maintaining a portion of the budget.
• Be familiar with the progressive community based rehabilitation and education models of David Werner, Paulo Freire and Celestine Freinet and other international, intercultural approaches to reaching traditionally underserved populations
• Signing, Spanish, Indigenous languages and ability to acquire communication skills as situational needs dictates.
• Hold or be eligible for a OT License from the State of Arizona
• OT’s who are Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, Vista, Americorps and other overseas service veterans who have experienced and understand the need for a new service paradigm are encouraged to apply.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS
You will be the face Easter Seals Arizona. You will be serving Vets and others who have given their all, and deserve an extra measure of care and patience. You will have extensive contact with internal and external Easter Seals Arizona customers and peers in the service community. You will work closely with Easter Seals Arizona staff both in the office and in the field within a team environment. You will be responsible for upholding the Mission and Vision of Easter Seals Arizona.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Majority of work will be supporting assistive technology programs both at the Easter Seals Arizona offices and at onsite with citizens. Statewide travel required
