1966: richard c fleischer served in India in Nellore beginning in 1966
Returned Peace Corps Volunteer richard c fleischer can be contacted at mrrichards7968jrayahoodcom
Country of Service: India
Training Group: India 30
Cities you served in: Nellore
Arrival Year: 1966
Departure Year: 1968
Work Description: Science Teachers' Workshops
Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps:
I am happy to report that my life since has been rather ordinary. I have an MA
which I only hang on my office wall. I am a husband and father, the two most
important things that I have done. I am self-employed, I practice as a Certified
Public Accountant.
Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:
For quite a few years I saw this adventure as something that benefited me much
more than anyone or anything else. My view was that we would not make a
difference as I got onto the plane to go to India. This did not change as I got onto
the plane when I left, (that we did not make a difference). I recently found out
that I was wrong! Andra Pradesh, the state that we started the Workshops in,
this state that is thought to be the "boonies" by other Indians has some of the
highest secondary school science achievement scores in that delightful country.
Anyone you are looking for or would like to hear from?:
I want to hear from everyone who participated in the Science Teachers'
Workshops program. I, aslo, want to hear from everyone who worked in Nellore
District. Then there are those who did not work in Nellore District, but enjoyed the
hospitality of my home on Rajagari Street; I want to hear from you too.
Any message for returned volunteers?:
Hey yo!
