I'm Ed Folmer's oldest daughter, Andrea. He recently passed away and I'm hoping to get in touch with some of the people who knew him in Liberia to find out more about his early life.

My name is Albert "Bert" Tong. I was a PCV in Liberia from Dec. 1975 to Dec. 1977. I was a teacher at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Sinkor, Monrovia.
If your dad went by the name Eddy or Fast Eddy, then he is the one I knew. My apartment mate in Sinkor was David Neff who worked for CARE at the time. David was a forester who was in Peace Corps prior to 1975. He knew Eddy before I did and is the one who introduced me to him. When I new Eddy, I don't believe he was in Peace Corps any longer but was working privately. One of our favorite pasttimes was playing softball in a league on the weekends. We always had happy hour during the games, because of the heat, which made playing ball all the more fun. Those were really good times. Rather than going on, let me know if any of this sounds familiar. I am now living in Jupiter, Florida and have been teaching school here the past 26 years. Sorry for your loss.

Hi Andrea,
I knew your father very well and I have contacts to several other people who were Ed's closest friends in Liberia. Send me an email and I'll give you a call. I lived in Liberia for ten years.
