Work Description:

Worked with the US Care Prog. and the HOPE health prog. developing centers throughout the ern region to provide nutrition education and distribute milk for mothers with infants. Recruited and helped trained Ecuadorian volunteers to continue program.

Bring us up to date on your life after the peace corps:

In 1967 worked with Peace Corps recruiting throughout the Eastern Region of Continental US and Puerto Rico. Also worked with VISTA supervising volunteer program in NYC. Completed a Master in Social Work and Ph.D. in Urban Education. Worked in research with City U. of N.Y.; Administered Social Work Department in Nursing Home in Broklyn, NY. Served as Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Senior Assistance and Benefits of the NYC Department for the Aging ovrseeing several City Senior Benefit Programs; and most recently funtioned as Director of Program Operations for the Institute for Puerto Rican/Hispanic Elderly overseeing 8 senior centers, a mental health clinic and other programs for seniors in Queens. Collaborated in Book: Social Work Practice with Ethnically and Racially Diverse Nursing Home Residents and Their Families; Pat Kolb, editor. Now retired enjoying some rest but still involved in the field as President of the Queens Interagency Council.

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:

Peace Corps service was a major experience in my life. I felt I not only gave but received doubly from the people I worked with and my experiences in Ecuador and with the volunteers I trained and served.
