It's so hard to write friends, cause its such a different world. Also, wish
I'd totally avoided ex-pats and focused only on making local friends.

Worked as a Draftsman for an Architect for about a year.
Fell in Love. Visited my future parents in law in Malawi in January and February of 1999.
Married June 1999.
Daughter born March 2000.
Currently living in Charlottesville, Va working as a Software Engineer but looking for work in Africa.

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:
I wish I'd broght my negatives on that fatefull day I left town for the last time. "Just to buy some kerosine"... And I sure wish it could have lasted longer...

Returned to Cornell for a few years to get my bearings after the evac...currently at Syracuse University finishing up a Masters in Learning Disabilities and in brain research. Engaged to be married on June 21st, 2003 in the Adirondacks. Plan on being a special education teacher for a while, and moving somewhere warmer than upstate New York!

Any thoughts you have now looking back on peace corps days?:
It was too short. I wish I could have kept in touch with everyone more when returned. Wish I had more physical proof of me being there, since all stuff was left behind...wish I had a chance to say a proper goodbye to all. Closure is still in progress...

I was a Marine Guard in Brazzaville during the Evacuation in June 1997. My name is Rob, I was one of the newest member of the detachment there.

God bless you guys/gals...I'm glad we all made it out alive....I left on June 18th for Kinshasa....I know a bunch of you loved the MRE's if you stayed in the embassy with us...and the use of one bathtub.....
