LAURA WENDY COMPTON DE PAOLA, 63, of TOMS RIVER

LAURA WENDY COMPTON DE PAOLA, 63, of TOMS RIVER, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, at her home, after a long illness. She was a social worker and supervisor with the New York City Department of Social Services for more than 30 years. She lived in Union County most of her life before moving to Toms River. Wendy graduated from A.L. Johnson High School in Clark and from Maryville College. She was an early volunteer for the Peace Corps and played numerous musical instruments. For many years, she sang in the First Presbyterian Church choir in Roselle and, more recently, for the Greenbriar Woodlands choir.

Wendy was predeceased by her son, Marc Blakeley. Surviving are her mother, Edith Compton of Toms River; her two brothers, Keith and Glenn Compton of Brick; and a large and loving family.

Visiting will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home; arrive at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave., Union. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Ave., Toms River, NJ 08753, or the Jersey Shore Animal Shelter, Brick Boulevard, Brick, NJ 08723.

peace corps volunteers were and are pawns of the politicians like kennedy ,johnson,carter and clinton .
