Hilarious Road Trip Tale
Village Market Press announces the release of author Palmer Owyoung's novel Halcyon Daze. A hilarious comedy about a woman having a quarter life crisis and her ensuing road trip.
April 1, 2003 San Francisco Ca.- Village Market Press announces the release of Palmer Owyoung’s novel Halcyon Daze,an offbeat, and original comedy detailing the journey of a group of late twenty-somethings, living in San Francisco, trying to find themselves, and make sense of the world that surrounds them.
It begins with Kalani Smith, a half-Chinese half-Caucasian woman from Hiawatha, Kansas who is having a quarter-life crisis. She has just dumped her fiance at the altar, is about to turn thirty, has a dead end job, is bored with life and still hasn’t had her first orgasm. So she leaves Hiawatha on a quixotic adventure in search of herself, her burgeoning sexuality, and to understand the meaning of the question that plagues her; what is a perfect life?
Juxtaposed against vignettes of her tumultuous past we follow Kalani as she drives across the country on her way to San Francisco and toward her dream of becoming a writer. Along the way she meets a motley cast of characters including an elderly Native American Medicine Woman, a cross-dressing ER doctor, and a stripper/psychologist.
Their search eventually leads them to Burning Man, this generation’s answer to Woodstock. Where they embark on a surreal adventure in the Nevada desert, and find an experiment in temporary community full of art, drugs, and a new perspective on life.
The author is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and currently resides in Singapore. He has lived and traveled all over the world, including a two year stint as a Peace Corps volunteer in Namibia. Halcyon Daze is his first novel.
For a limited time the e-Book is being made available for FREE on the author’s website-http://www.palmerowyoung.com
