NPCA will announce new President in July

In a talk with Peace Corps Online on June 19, Pat Reilly, Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Peace Corps Association (NPCA), said that the Search Committee charged with selecting the next President of the NPCA has narrowed the field down to their final candidates and that they are in the process of making their final recommendation.

Once the Search Committee makes their final recommendation, the 35 members of the Board of Directors of the NPCA will have the final vote to approve the candidate.

"I know that there are lots of rumors floating around about who will be the next President," she said "but I would ask that those who know not talk about it until the official announcement has been made."

She said that NPCA expects to make the announcement of their next President by the middle of July. "People are going to be quite pleased when the announcement is made," she said. The new President is "going to be good."

It has been four years since the NPCA last went through the selection process for a new President. Dane Smith announced his retirement as President in January saying "it’s time for some new blood, new leadership prepared to give the requisite time and energy."

Ms. Reilly said that the decision to select a new President is a decision that the NPCA only gets to make very rarely and that "it's a decision that I have been honored to have been a part of." She added that the selection is very important as it will set the tone for the future of the NPCA for years to come.
