Caitlin Hardie, along with other Peace Corps volunteers, were invited to President Obama's closing remarks as he was leaving Ghana earlier this month
Caitlin, along with other Peace Corps volunteers, were invited to President Obama's closing remarks as he was leaving Ghana earlier this month. They boarded buses and drove to the airport to see him off. She wrote that he cruised in on a helicopter and joined the Ghanaian President, Atta Mills, on the podium. Caitlin noted that it was tough being away during last year's elections but being 20 feet from where President Obama gave his speech and to hear his shout to the Peace Corps made missing everything else seem like no big deal.

Lansing graduate Caitlin Hardie's continuing tales of life as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana make a good read. She will be working there two years come Sept. 18, with two more months and then homeward bound! Caitlin misses family and friends, along with cheeseburgers and ice cream. Small things indeed when one reads about what she has seen and done.
Caitlin participated in a week-long leadership camp for middle-school-aged boys and girls on setting goals and planning for the future, sexual health, study skills, budgeting, gender issues, making good decisions and much more.
