DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2009

In the morning, the President and the Vice President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. The President will then receive the Economic Daily Briefing in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

Later, the President will host separate meetings with Peace Corps Director Aaron Williams and Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairwoman Inez Tenenbaum in the Oval Office. The President will also meet with NASA Administrator Charles Bolden in the Oval Office to discuss the Administrator's work at NASA and they will also discuss the Augustine Committee's analysis.

In the evening, the President and the First Lady will host a Hanukkah reception on the State Floor. The Vice President will also attend. This event is closed press.

PCOL has asked five prominent RPCVs and Staff to write a memo on the most important issues facing the Peace Corps today. Issues raised include the independence of the Peace Corps, political appointments at the agency, revitalizing the five-year rule, lowering the ET rate, empowering volunteers, removing financial barriers to service, increasing the agency's budget, reducing costs, and making the Peace Corps bureaucracy more efficient and responsive.
