The city's new economic director says, “Bring it on”.
Fabio E. Angell, who joined the city June 1, says he is proud to call Del Rio home and looks forward to working with the community to enhance our quality of life.
“I came to Del Rio for the first time in 2001 and it was love at first sight,” says Angell. “I have enjoyed Del Rio as a tourist for eight years and am proud to say I am a permanent resident.”
As the city's economic development director he is charged with coordinating programs and plans related to business expansion and retention for the city.

The Triple Crown is extended to Texas Main Street cities that receive three national awards bestowed for historic preservation, tourism driven master planning and community outreach among others.
During Angell's time in Pharr, the city received the Preserve America award, the National Main Street City designation and All-America City.
He also served in the United States Peace Corps in Costa Rica working in areas such as infrastructure, community development and economic development.
“As a key member, I hope and I am committed to making sure I use my skills, my credentials, to bring the kind of economic development to the city of Del Rio that we all want,” said Angell.
Angell says he hopes to create a team of citizens, city staff, council members and business leaders to enhance the quality of life in Del Rio.
“(We) will work with on single purpose in mind, which is putting the city in a position that let's people know we are open for business and open for opportunities of all kinds… Bring it on,” said Angell. “Del Rio is so unique (and that) is going to take us into the future.”
Angell and his wife Virginia have two children, Noah, who is nine, and Magea, who is three.
